Tired of Snow

So it snowed...again. On Wednesday we got about 6 inches of snow. Normally that wouldn't have crippled things around here, but the snow hit hard and fast right around the early morning and continued throughout the morning, shutting down all the schools and a lot of businesses. All of Jammie's patients cancelled that day. I don't teach a class on Wed and planned on getting some grant writing done anyway, so we decided to keep the kids at home and we had a snow day. I stayed in our home office and was actually pretty productive, but would emerge periodically to play for a few minutes. All in all it was a good day.

But, the depressing part of it all is that it snowed again and winter doesn't seem to be slowing down. In fact, today we learned that if it snows one more inch (which its supposed to on Friday/Saturday) we will have the snowiest winter on record in Toledo.....EVER!

I'm very excited to know that I will be here for this historic event.

Winter snow

We have been hit hard here in Ohio with snow and ice several times this winter. We took Sawyer and Caroline out for the first time about 2 weeks ago to include the wintery bliss! Caroline fell asleep in the stroller after awhile but did have a chance for her first sled experience. Sawyer wanted to make a snowman so badly, but the snow was powder like--not packing. We had fun regardless!

Again Bethany's blog has some great pictures from our visit too, so check those out! Sawyer recieved many nice gift including a Tarheel cap, firestation, board game 4 in 1 set. Caroline received a rag doll, winter hat with her name, and a Tarheel cheerleading outfit (picture not included).

Christmas in MI

The Tuesday before Christmas we headed to Williamston, MI. We spent Christmas Eve day through the day after Christmas at Jammie's folks. We had so much fun. Sawyer left cookies and 8 mini carrots for Santa's tiny reindeer. Phillip received a Wii fit from Jammie's parents so we hooked it up and even got Jammie's 82 year old Grandfather to play bowling and boxing! We head back to Ohio on the day after Christmas to unpack and repack so we could leave the next day to head to N.C.

Finding a Tree

We went to find a tree on a Friday night. We had great intentions on heading to a Christmas tree farm, but the weather was far too cold, so we headed to a local greenhouse that had fresh cut trees displayed. They offered cookies and hot drinks and it was indoors! Sawyer assisted and he really wanted to bring home 2 trees--one big and one little. We settled on one big one and told him we had a little tree in the attic that mommy had in college that he could decorate! That appeased him. Caroline slept most of the time so there are not pictures of her...next year she will be an active part we are sure!

Going to see Santa Claus

When we were down in NC for Thanksgiving, we took the kids to see Santa Claus and GG, Papa, and Bethany came with us. We found a great spot at Reynolda Manor shopping center a couple of years ago. We were helping Sawyer make his first Christmas wish list this year. Every Sunday in Thanksgiving, we would let him look through the ads in the Sunday paper and point out pictures of things he might like Santa to bring him. Then, using his safety scissors, he would cut them out and then help him glue them on a piece of paper. He would add things to the piece of paper when he found new things. He ended with 3 pages of things he wanted! We made sure to tell him he can't expect to get everything on his list!
He brought his list with him to NC and then showed it to Santa.

Thanksgiving 2008

As usual, we headed down to Rural Hall, NC for Thanksgiving to get together with the Pettys. Kathryn opened up her home to everyone that made it in this year. We had a great time seeing everyone. The camp fires were especially fun and Bethany has some great pictures from those evenings.
It turns out we really didn't take that many pictures while we were down there, so there's not a lot of material to post. Here's some pics of Sawyer and Zoe hanging out together.

As always, Bethany had her turkey hat. She helped Sawyer make a "turkey leg" hat out of paper.

Bethany got lots of chances to hang out with her niece....

and Daddy made a little fun of the way Caroline sleeps.

Caroline's bonnet

We were getting Caroline ready for her baptism and was trying out her bonnet that Great Grandma Gribble sent to her. Here are pictures of her in the bonnet.

GG and Papa visit - November 2008

GG and Papa came for a visit in mid-November so they could be here for Caroline's baptism. Here is a video when they arrived for that visit.

Catching up - November 2008

We're obviously WAY behind in making posts to the blog and several people have pointed this out multiple times. To get things going, here are some pictures from early November of 2008.
