Sledding

We got about 3 inches of snow last night. This is the first "big" snow we have had. Phillip got to use the new snowblower for the first time and there was finally enough that we could play in it and go sledding. Snow was not packing kind, so we had to make snow angels...no snowmen or snowball fights:( We found this random hill in the back of our neighborhood...well we had to walk about 1/4 of a mile to get back there, but it was worth it. We even found a "pond" that Caroline liked to "skate on". Winter can be fun..but only for so long:)

Tarheel basketball game

On Thursday, Dec 29th, we headed to Chapel Hill for a men's basketball game. This was Sawyer's first Tarheel game EVER! We are were excited for him. Phillip, Bethany, Sawyer and I enjoyed some time before the game walking around campus and arrived to the Dean Dome just in time to see the players run out of the tunnel and see the starting line-ups announced. Tarheels won too! Hopefully the first of many games for our family. Good times:)

Christmas

We spent Christmas Eve at home in Ohio. We had a great meal, attended candlelight service at church, and allowed the kids to open several small gifts from each other. We read the Night Before Christmas and then tucked the kids into bed. Christmas morning was full of joy and all the fun of viewing Christmas through a young child. After a while, we headed to Michigan to enjoy Christmas with Jammie's family. The day after Christmas we headed to NC to celebrate with Phillip's family! Lots and lots of miles and loads of fun and memories!

Pre-Christmas

The weeks leading up to Christmas we fun and festive. We had the program at church where Sawyer was a nutcracker and speaking part while Caroline was an angel who sang--well most of her song. We made Christmas cookies and took family photos.

Sawyer really loves football. Any chance he gets he wants to play. We had some great weather for November so we headed outside to run some plays! Do we have a future Tarheel QB in the making:) Maybe a Spartan?

Halloween

What can I say, the kids were soooooooooooooooooo much fun this year. Caroline could hardly sleep the night before. She was so excited to take apple cider to her preschool party and was itching to wear her purple wig! Sawyer went between being batman "the dark knight" and Captain Kody (clone trooper from Star Wars). He enjoyed being the big brother and helping his siter "trick-or-treat". They both lasted for about 1 hr and 30 mins. Then they came back to the house and handed out treats to other kids:) Love my babies!!!

Pumpkin patch and more

We had have lots of fun this fall. We are wrapping up October and did so by going to the pumpkin patch (hayride, straw maze and cider), decorating pumpkins, and believe it or not...packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Sawyer has hit a big milestone today...he lost his first tooth! Congrats Sawyer:)

GG and Papa visit

GG and Papa came for a fall visit. They were able to catch one of Sawyer's soccer game, helped with some Halloween crafts, assited Caroline with "booing" one of our neighbors and listened to a concert performed by Caroline. Fun was had by all.

Pumpkins and more

10 days ago it was 75 - 80 degrees and we headed to the pumpkin patch. The kids enjoyed petting some of the animals at the farm and loved looking at all the pumpkins. The next day we headed to MI for a party and got a chance to view all of Uncle Mark's pumpkins. Caroline and Mommy enjoyed raking leaves at Grandma and Pa's. Fall is fun:)

Sawyer tries soccer

Saturday was Sawyer's first organized soccer game. He loved it and scored 3 goals and had some saves as goalie. He was so tired after all the running. Later in the day we hosted a beer tasting/football watching party. We cheered the Tarheels on to victory, tasted some good pumpkin and octoberfest beers and 9 hrs later everyone left! Long, but fun afternoon:)The show stops after slide 8...for some reason I could not delete the blank slides...save your time flipping though and stop after the seconds Carolina picture:)

First days of preschool and KG

Well this week Caroline started in the pre-school room and Sawyer started KG. The yellow bus came and went this a.m. and Sawyer did great! He wants to go back to KG! Good thing, cause does he really have a choice:)

Sawyer turns 6!!

Sawyer turned 6 on August 12th. He wanted c.chip pancakes for breakfast and wanted to watch "umlimited T.V.". He got to watch tons more that morning then we headed to a metro park for a pinic and a little hike. He was showered with gifts at each meal and then some. He was happy to have his GG,Papa and Autn Bethany visiting from NC. We went to Red Robin for dinner. Sawyer DID NOT WANT THEM TO SING TO HIM! The next day he had his Jake and the Neverland Pirate water party complete with 10 little pirates, a treasure hunt, water ballon "fight", waterslide and pool! The cake was good too! Can't believe that he is 6. He is such a blessing and thank God for him and pray for many, many more healthy years together:)

County Fair

We headed to the county fair with some good friends in our neighborhood. This was the first fair for Saywer and Caroline. They loved it. The rides were a hit and so were the animals. Oh, we all loved the snocones and funnel cake! YUMMY!

Caroline's last b-day celebration

Caroline wanted to have some friends over to celebrate her 3rd b-day. She wanted a princess party and boy did she get her wish. We had nail painting, coloring, bean bag toss, and a princess bounce house. Mommy made her a special cake and everyone dressed up! We then headed to the lake to celebrate Grandma Swain's b-day.

Mountain Trip

After spending several days in and around Rural Hall, we headed to the Mts to see Bethany. We had a great time and she was a wonderful host. We traveled to Bryson City, NC for a day trip. We heard great blue grass music, tubed down a river and good beer. After that day trip we headed to downtown Ashville to see the drum circle and eat icecream. What a experience!

Post beach travels

On the way home from Tposail, we made a stop at Grandma Gribble's. The kids had fun playing dress up and playing with Gus. I think Grandma Gribble slept well that night:) Before we headed to the real mts, we headed to Pilot Mt for a warm up hike. This was Caroline's first hike and she kept saying, "I am a really good hiker". Sawyer did not want to leave as he wanted to keep finding "harder" climbs.

Take us to the beach....

but first we have to stop in Chapel Hill to eat and let the kids walk around campus a little! That's right, on our way to Topsail Beach, we stopped in Chapel Hill to get good food and get a drink at the old well. After eating and walking we drove to North Topsoil Beach, NC. What a week we had. Swimming, fun, food, family, battleships, birthdays, late night card games, adult drinks, great views...and much, much, more. GG and Caroline played ballet studio, Papa and the kids napped together, Jammie read 2 books--yes you read that right. There are too many moments to name...hope the slideshow captures some of the great times we had. looking foward to next year already:)

Great Weekend

Well we had a fun filled weekend. Sawyer had his last baseball game of the season. They went undefeated (league does not keep score at this age, so everyone wins every game!) Sawyer got his first sports medal! He loves it and likes to wear it all day and night. The kids have been asking to camp out, so being the great daddy that he is, Phillip camped with the kids in the backyard. We had smores, looked at stars and all 3 campers slept all night in the tent...the kids did not even wake up in the night...can't say the same for Phillip though :(
We also attended music in the park event. It was a Dixieland band. We packed a pinic, had icecream, face painting and lots of fun! The last song the group played was "When the Saints Go Marching in". Made us think of heaven Pa. We thought he would have enjoyed the whole concert. Enjoy!

MI FUN

Phillip went to NATA so Jammie and kids went to Williamston, MI! We went to a great park where a tornado hit a couple years ago and most of the trees were destroyed. So instead of cutting them all down, the town folk turned them into art wood carvings!AWESOME! We spent ALOT of time at Uncle Mark and Aunt Mary's pond. Sawyer masterd jumping off the diving board with his cousins. Caroline enjoyed swimming, but loved digging in the sand with her cousin Karson!

Safety City and Father's Day

Sawyer went to safety town last week. This is a program that is offered by our township for children entering KG in the fall. The children learn about safety in their environment--water, bus, stranger danger, animal, roads, bike, etc. Sawyer also had another baseballgame. He really "crushes the ball". We also celebrated Father's day by making Phillip breakfast and dinner and showering him with some gifts! Enjoy.

GG and Papa Visit and More Baseball!!!!

GG and Papa came for a visit and we has sooooooooooooooooooo much fun. Unlike last year when they visited, we keep the moving to a minimum. Yes, it is hard to believe that we have lived in our home for a year now (come on visitors...we are open for business!!!!). While GG and Papa were here, we played a lot...lots of baseball. Sawyer is REALLY into baseball :)Caroline loves to swing high in her "baby swing" and loves under dogs! She is such a thrill seeker:) Enjoy.

Easter 2011

Leading up to Easter, the kids had an Easter Egg hunt at our church. We then headed to Rural Hall for Easter. We wished the weather would have been 80 all 3 days instead of just one, but...can't be too greedy. We were able to spend lots of time with family and friends. Sawyer mastered riding his bike down "the hill" and he hit some baseballs over GG and Papas house. Caroline learned the fine art of dying eggs and how to find them. Fun was had by all! We look foward to our 2 weeks visit this summer!

The kids are in swim lessons. I took lots of picture tonight, but Caroline was home sick with daddy! Early this week (Monday), it was 60 outside which allowed us to play outside. Sawyer said, "I want to play golf...I have not played in a LONG time." I have to agree with him that winter was rough this year!

St Patty's Day

We celebrated St.Patrick's Day by making soda bread, potatoe soap and having a jigs dinner! We all dressed up in green for the day and the kids wore their hats from GG's magic bag. A little leprechaun even left green milk for the kids:) We had some neighbors over that evening and gathered outside and drank some irish beers (ladies were tinted green...the guys were too dark to color!). A fun day indeed!
We also made peanut butter bananna bread the next day, hence the picture of 2 different breads!

The kids went to the dentist the first Friday in March. This was Caroline's first trip. She acted like a pro. Sawyer was such a good big brother..encouraging her the whole cleaning. That night, GG and Papa arrived! Boy...we are not sure they were aware that customs were required! GG's magic bag even made the long trip and somehow found great hiding spots all over the house each night!

Zoo Times and more

Over President's day weekend, some family from MI came down to attend "Frozen Toesen" at the Toledo Zoo. The kids all had fun and adults survived:) We went to "the Magic of Bubbles", jumped in the bouncehouse, played in a tent, got their faces painted, saw some of the animals and even touched a snake. The kids just played that night It was a great visit.

Prior to President's day weekend, we had been hanging low and enjoying home time. The kids have been enjoying the mini-trampoline and just being at home. Sawyer did sing in choir again 2 weeks ago and he did wonderful. Enjoy!

Well, as most of you know, we had a little storm this week! We all stayed home on Tuesday night - Thursday morning. It was fun to hibernate for a day or 2. Caroline (if you already did not know) is quite the "little princess". She is starting to potty train and has had great success. We have a book "Where's the Poop", that really got her intrested in the potty. She is only allowed to read this book when she has to go "# 2". She will read it herself sometimes or have someone else read it to her--like big brother!!! She LOVES to play dress up and sing. She has a VERY strong personality and likes to tell others how things go and to give them direction--just a born leader, right:) She recently went to the "bootty shop" (beauty shop)and loved it. Since she was so "brave", she earned a trip to Meijer to buy pull-ups and have a pony ride! We also took her bowling for the first time as Sawyer went with some of his friends from his old preschool/daycare. On Sunday, Sawyer was in our church's childrens program. He sang songs, had "finger" plays and signed the first verse to Away in a Manager. We were very humbled to host the Gribble's Thanksgiving this year. GG, Papa, Bethany, Patty, and Grandma Gribble traveled from N.C. to be with us! We headed out in the cold to see the Lights at the Zoo! It was amazing!!! We hung out and made lots of food. Bethany (sister) did a great job on her blog. Jammie and Sawyer headed to a Christmas parade on Friday night. It was too cold for all the Southern folks :)

Cowboy and Cowgirl

Sawyer and Caroline love dressing up. Both enjoy making up outfits and dressin gup mommy! They both have "horses" and hats and pretend to be a cowgirl and cowboy! They love to chase each other around and around the basement!!!! Sawyer is really into "reading" as well. He will try to read to Caroline..so precious! Trick or Treating and Bath in the BIG Tub!

Can't believe that November is here. We craved pumpkins and the kids thought it was cool to call the inside of the pumpkins "guts". Neither of them liked to touch the inside parts! We had a blast trick or treating in the new neighborhood. Phillip took the kids while Jamime stayed at home to pass out candy. They met up with some of our friends and they went around the to some of the houses together! We had about 130 trick or treaters, so the neighborhood was hopping. Caroline owned the night and walked around that she was "it"! (of course she is:))
Sawyer loved being Superman and enjoyed flying to all the houses. They came home and dumped their candy out on the porch and started to eat!!!!!!!!!
Later in the week, we let the kids take a bath in the adult tub. Sawyer keep saying he was swimming!

Pumpkins and Parades

Halloween is right around the corner. As a family we have enjoyed a hayride, pumpkin patch and painting pumpkins. Sawyer also sang in the kids choir at church again last Sunday! Today both of the children have their Halloween parade/party at school (daycare). Caroline thought she was HOT STUFF marching around the building. After the parade, Sawyer's went on his first field trip. Mommy went along as well:) The hayride and pumpkin were fun and an awesome way to spend a personal day off work! Lots of video clips so get a cup of cider and a blanket! Enjoy!

Swinging into Fall

Fallis here..where did summer go? We had a nice visit from GG and Papa. The Sawyer enjoyed playing football and Caroline (dare I admit) she liked being a cheerleader!!! Many years to work on changing that to a basketball palyer:) Caroline also really enjoys music. She sings and sings. Sawyer was invited to a birthday party at a Go-Kart and Putt-putt place. He had never been in a go-kart. mommy got to drive and he rode. Enjoy the video clips! Happy Fall!

Nags Head take 1

We had the pleasure of spending one week in Nags Head, NC with the Petty Family. This slide show shows us most playing on the beach. Caroline enjoyed looking between her legs the most. All the kids liked "surfing" on the boggie board. The most fun the kids had was with the piece of wood they found. They enjoyed using it as a bridge. Thanks so much to the "adult generation" Petty's for allowing this trip to happen! We loved being there with everyone!

Super Sawyer turns 5!

Well....our little boy is 5. We can't believe it, but time does fly. We were in Nags Head, NC on his actual birthday this year, so we were able to celebrate with all the NC family. We had a superhero pizza party. Everyone dressed up...Sawyer and all the "kids" had fun. When we returned to Ohio, we had another party with all Sawyer's preschool friends and our MI family. The theme was a Superhero Carnival Party. There were carnival games and food...lots and lots of YUMMY carnival food..snowcones, popcorn, corndogs, elephant ears, cotton candy, french fries...YUMMY, YUMMY! Enjoy the pictures.

Caroline's 2nd b-day

We have not posted in awhile. But our little girl is now 2, we are almost unpacked and we head for the outer banks in 2 days! We had an awesome "dog party" for Caroline with lots of help from our NC family. On her actual birthday day, we went to story time, swam and then went to a pizza place where the kids could "make their own pizzas". During the time the NC crew was here, lots of work was done on the house, but we did make time for fun (like swimming, bike rides, parks and ICECREAM!). Enjoy the pics and video!

Swinging into summer

We have had a busy 3 -4 weeks. Caroline ended her last week at daycare with 2 black eyes! Sawyer had his pre-school party/program..he was awesome. Kinda of sad as we have been at this center since he was 5 months old. With the move, we are changing pre-school/daycare in the Fall. The kids have been having fun playing superheros and helping with the basement project. We had the pleasure of having Uncle Dave-o with us and he taught everyone something..both good and bad (see pictures and video). He was sweet enough to attend Sawyer's program. Other than all this, we havebeen trying to unpack and get a little organized. Oh, we also made a trip to the zoo, had cousin John visit and GG and Papa here...whee..I need a nap!

Swim School

We are just finishing up "swim school". Both kids had 6 weeks of lessons. Caroline took to the water after one session. She has little to no fear. She will jump in, go under..you name it. Sawyer's skills have progressed as well. This is his thrid round of lessons. He loves the "tickle, T, solider" to learn the arm stroke and of course enjoys jumping off the edge to his "teachers". Enjoy!

April and May

Can't believe that it is already May. Feels like Easter was just here. Haven't posted since March (sorry Bethany!), but we have been keeping busy. We spent Easter in NC and got to see lot of folks. Caroline and Sawyer enjoyed playing outside, eating treats and getting lots of attention! We had had some time back home to eat ice cream, celebrate Phillip's birthday, Mother's day, and teaching Sawyer how to ride his bike without training wheels. Don't have lots of video on the photo camera as the battery went dead. We do have footage but it is on the real video camera, but haven't downloaded it to digital yet. We are very proud of him. He picked it up in 5 - 10 mins! Phillip laid a new floor at the lake cabin for his in-laws and also painted. Sawyer was a BIG help painting!!! Oh, we have also been dealing with the house thing since Easter...still no closing dates! Stay tunned as we will hopefully move by the end of the month and celebrate Jammie's b-day too! Always something to keep us on out toes!

March Maddness

We had had a fun time the past couple weeks. The weather has started to turn somewhat warm and we have been taking full advantage of playing outside. Sawyer has really been into basketball and Caroline likes bikes (and food:)).

GG & Papa visit and Caroline bakes

GG and Papa visited for 5 nights last week. With them they brought the famouse "magic bag". Sawyer eats this kind of stuff up and Caroline participated for the first time and LOVED it. She was so pumped--clapping and syaing "yeah". She went to her 18 month well check (she is 20 months tomorrow) and her stats were as follows: weight 29.7 lbs (95%), 33 inches (90%). Her head was also in the 90% (taking after Great Uncle Kyle I guess :))

Sawyer is learning all about clocks at his pre-school. Daddy and GG helps him build one earlier this week. I forgot to take a picture, but it was "homework". We built a wooden box and added chimes. He painted, stickered and glued all kinds of stuff on the outside and then he wrote the numbers on the "clock face". They then made moveable hands. I will post a picture when he brings it home (when that will be..who knows:))

This morning muffins and fruit were on the menu for breakfast. Sawyer was still sleeping and Caroline wanted to help. So she pulled up and chair and was a great assistant. I still can't believe that she is closer to 2 than 1. Time has gone sooooooooo quickly.

We still have the house for sale by owner, but we are leaning towards listing with an agent as we would like to take advantage of the tax credit if possible and have the buyers do the same. Wish us luck!

Heading into March

Caroline is grwoing so fast. Her Aunt Bethany sent her a tutu and slippers for Valentine's day. At first she did not like them, but now she will walk around the house saying "Tutu. Tutu". We have had many nights of playing basketball, wrestling and dancing. Sawyer is easily amused and loves his daddy to "do tricks". He laughs at all the "silly" stuff and his sister joins in as well. Looking forward to a visit from GG and Papa from NC on Friday.

Caroline 18 months and more zoo days

Caroline was 18 months old in Jan and I am a little behind taking pictures. I finally did and have some to share. She is still trying the potty out. Big brother likes to join her (or maybe it is the other way around :) ) We had some company 2 weekend ago. My sister and her family came down and we headed to the zoo so the kids could get out of the house. It was fun! Phillip and I went to a party that evening and enjoyed the free babysitting (Thanks Janeen and Jason!!!). We are keeping busy doing things around the house as we have a "FOR SALE" sign in the yard and have it posted on Craigslist and Zillow. Stay warm..Spring is on its way!!!!!!!!!!!

Proud Moments

We have been experiencing some proud moments at home. Caroline is starting to sit on the potty--she even went on the potty last night!!!! She is talking more and letting us know her wants and needs. Sawyer is still loving football and sports. We play all the time up stairs and down!

We have done some fun activites this month. Sawyer had a birthday party at CHUCK E. CHEESE, Caroline turned 18 months (other pictures and post of follow later), we had dance parties in our living room and we went to Frozentoesen at the Toledo Zoo! At the zoo they had magic show, bounce house, and a shark feed. Caroline enjoyed looking at the polar bears while Sawyer loved to watch the sharks! Enjoy!
